Professor Jung-Joon Min of the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Chonnam National University Hwasun Hospital has been inaugurated as the 11th President of the Korean Society of Molecular Imaging (KSMI). His two-year term will run until December 2023.
KSMI is a scientific society established in 2002 by nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, biomedical engineers, chemists, and biologists at the dawn of the field of molecular imaging.
It plays a leading role in international academic organizations such as the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS) and the Federation of Asian Societies of Molecular Imaging (FASMI).
In 2014, KSMI hosted the WMIS Annual Meeting, the largest international academic event in the field, in Seoul. It also holds the FASMI Annual Meeting every four years.
KSMI is a highly specialized academic society composed of top domestic scholars in the development of new imaging technologies. It fosters collaborative research by sharing knowledge and technologies, and is also active in technology commercialization and startup ventures.
Professor Min has served three terms as Secretary General of KSMI, and has also held roles as Director of Academic Affairs and Director of Education. A leading figure in Korea’s molecular imaging field, he was recently named the first Korean Fellow of the WMIS and currently serves as the President of the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine.
